Salvation

Becoming a Christian

Woman with Bible

I want to share what it is to become a Christian and how we obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ

The very first step in your salvation has already been accomplished by our Lord at Calvary through His death on the cross and resurrection... Which is grace. This was extended to us so that we may be reconciled to God.

But what is Grace?

It is the freedom to serve God without punishment of the old testament law.  Through Jesus's offering of himself, the old testament system of law and sacrifices were no longer required by God for salvation... This does not mean we don't have to obey laws of man and of society... And there are principles found within Old Testament to which we as Christians still must adhere to as we continue our journey to Christ.

The next step comes through faith...

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen Hebrews 11:1

Faith is the 1st step we make towards getting to know our Lord.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6

We will be saved by our faith as Paul wrote to the church at Ephesus...

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:8

So having faith in God and the grace that He gave us to come to Him without fear is the first step we make in coming to him. This is a step we must maintain the rest of our lives...

Through faith we understand as Christ died for us... and that we must follow in the footsteps of the apostles who established the Church... They were witnesses of Jesus as we must become... Paul and the apostles all experienced the testimony Peter gave to the people of Jerusalem in the book of Acts

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38

This is relevant to the becoming a Christian today 2000+ years after the fact as it was the day the church was born. Many people alive today have experienced this. Peter said it is for you....

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. Acts 2:39
